Jacob's Visit to Cricut Headquarters

You may remember the recent cartridge sighting about the blog hopping scrap assistant from Chloe and her Clip-on Koalas. Well, Jacob recently arrived in Utah and I was pleased to take him into work with me for a behind-the-scenes tour of Provo Craft. Here are some of the highlights from his visit:

When Jacob and Clippy the Koala arrived, they were greeted by the Cricut!  As you can see in this picture, the Cricut is a lot smaller in person.

Before they could go on the tour, Jacob had to sign our Non-Disclosure Agreement. Sorry ladies! This means that if you are one of the lucky bloggers that he will be visiting, he cannot disclose any information about the upcoming products and cartridges that he has seen.

After signing in, and receiving his visitor's badge, he was spotted by Debbie from Human Resources.  Although she was a little star struck, she felt inclined to inform him about our dress code policy as his current attire would be a distraction to our employees.

Since Jacob needed to change his clothes, Cricut took this opportunity to teach him how to screen print his own clothes using the Yudu Card Shop. Traditionally, Cricut would have taught him to use the original Yudu; but seeing that they both have little hands, the Card Shop seemed like a better option. Here is Jacob silkscreening the Cricut logo onto the back of his brand new track suit!

Jacob was eager to show off his handiwork and try on his new Cricut track jacket!

They then ventured over to the Design Center, where Jacob caught a glimpse of all of our cartridges and a plethora of projects that were made with them.

Eager to play with some of the cartridges from his wish list, Cricut then took Jacob over to test drive each our machines. He loved playing with all of them, but when it was all said and done, he felt that the Cricut Mini (coming soon) was more his size!

Then they headed over to my desk, where Jacob was greeted by the entire family of Cricut Collectibles. They were eager to show off their different colors, each one painted to match one of our existing machines. These cute little Cricuts will be coming soon to Cricut.com.

Jacob also got to meet Mike Wigton, head of the Cricut Circle, who gave him a glimpse at the upcoming Cricut Circle cartridges. Jacob was then officially inducted into the Cricut Circle and Mike bestowed upon him the much sought after Cricut Circle charm bracelet.

Jacob then got the opportunity to meet the rest of the Cricut art team and share with us all of his new cartridge ideas. We then shared with him some of the favorite cartridges that we created. From the left, Stephanie (the newest member of the art team will see her first cartridge hit the stores soon), Noralee (Ornamental Iron and Damask Decor), me (Campin' Critters and Space Party), Jacob (hoping for cartridge full of wolves), Kassie (Bump in the Night and County Fair),  and Brandon (Buccaneer and Sweet Tooth Boxes).

And just before leaving, Jacob got a little star struck as he met the official face of Cricut, Jinger!  And from the look of things, Jinger is definitely on Team Jacob!

To thank you for visiting my blog, Cricut and Jacob pulled together this prize package. One lucky reader will receive this stylish Cricut Cake apron, a Cricut Cake chef's hat, and the Cricut Birthday Cakes cartridge. This prize package is NOT just for Cricut Cake users. The images and phrases on this cartridge are perfect for whipping up sweet birthday cards and party decorations! And to be honest with you, I'm jealous of whoever wins this because I would love to add this cartridge to my collection!

To enter, follow my blog and leave a comment telling me what your favorite cartridge is and why you love it.  For a second entry, imagine that you are in Jacob's shoes and have the opportunity to sit down with the Cricut art team. What suggestions would you have for new cartridges?

Entries for the giveaway will be accepted through Thursday, September 29th, and the winner will be announced on Friday. Good luck!

I would have to say my favorite cartridge (right now) is Create a Critter) but I've been really impressed with Art Philosophy as well....I would love to see a Scooby Doo cartridge or a Bugs Bunny cartridge with Yosemite Sam and Foghorn Leghorn...those older characters would be a blast to recreate (especially Pepe LePue)! What an awesome day for Jacob and not to mention us readers! Loved It!
My Fav cart is definately CAC - it has such a variety.
I would love to see an Aussie cartridge! But would happily settle for a Thomas the Tank or Dora the Explorer! What about a Fruit and Vegie only cart?

What a fun post, thanks for sharing all of that with us. I wish I could tour Provo Craft, that would awesome. It is so hard to pick just one favorite cartridge since they are unique in their own ways. Recently I have been loving Florals Embellished to whip out easy cards. I would love to have a "Bears Galore" cartridge. With all kinds of bears with a sports theme, holiday events, vacationing and anything else. I think it would so cute to have bears on layouts and cards in the different themes!

Go Jacob! My favorite cartridge would be create a critter, with paper dolls a close second. I like them because there are so many different art pieces on them, as well as the actual critters and dolls respectively. I wish Jacob would look into a cartridge that has lots of simple welded words. Things like Thanks, New Baby, Welcome, Love, Happy Day, etc... I would also love it if there was another cart like the one that was called bags, tags and more...? I am always coming across ideas that refer to that cart, and it is impossible to find.

That was such a great post, I am hoping that jacob will visit my blog!! That would be as much fun as winning the Cricut package! My favorite cartridge is tied between 2 oldies...Paper Dolls ( cause it has so many images on it ) and Stretch Your Imagination! I drooled on my laptop at that wall of cartridges, wowzers!!

How can I be envious of a plastic doll touring Provo Craft! Well I am!!! Loved reading up on his adventures. My all time favourite cartidge is New Arrivals, I constantly use it (helps when I'm working on my babies albums!)

A cartridge for Australia would be fantastic, from our animals to our farming would help our page layouts alot. Also a cartridge of fruit & vegetables would be useful!

Me again, I have a great idea for a cart. You could have a cart to make a board game or something like that, Call it Games, I love games. you can make the stand up people, see my blog, for the pieces, or other kind of things, you can make dice out of paper. Then make squares together for the board, and corner squares and curved squares.People can make their own game. You could also add houses or buildings with the people and 3d trees. I get brainstorming and my mind goes crazy I get lots of bad and good ideas.

Melody Lane Designs said...

another idea, then I'm done, really. Ok, so you should come up with a few ideas and let us vote on the best idea. That way you are producing a cart that we want. Don't tell us which one is winning till it's over and do a big announcement for it to give us something to get excited about to see which one wins!

My first love, I mean cartrige is probably my fav. Life is a Beach. It makes cute/easy cards. But I am madly in love with your word collage.

The Bays said...

Now to create my own, my mother in law and I were just thinking it would be cool to have a jack o lantern creater. Different faces you could cut to creat diff faces. Plus halloweeny things like cats and hats. It would be fun to have them cut in vinyl and stick them to pumpkins. But a Christmas ornament one would be fun. You could decorate a whole tree out of cut 'stuff': ornaments, cranberry/popcorn garlands, 3d start. And lights too.

Thanks for the tour I'm with team Jacob. My favorite cart is paper dolls dressup its so versital, not only are the dolls adorable but the accsesories can be used for so many projects that have nothing to do with the dolls.

There are so many great carts already I love them all. My idea for one is An amusment park with a ferris wheel, rollar coaster, cotton candy, log flume, and ticket booth. It could be used for fairs and carnivals even disney world. It could also be a project cart if the ferris wheel spins and the coaster slides.

How exciting for Jacob to tour the Provo Craft offices!! What a treat! I'm not so sure his werewolf cartridge will be at the top of my list, but I am curious to see it - if it makes production!!
I have a number of cartridges that I really, really like, but I think I'd have to say that my favourite has always been Doodlecharms. First of all, it's one of the first I owned, so special in that respect. However, I love that there just seems to be something for every occasion through the year - and those adorable little faces (especially the bear, my favourite image EVER), always warm my heart.
If I could offer suggestions for a cartridge, I would recommend a "grown up" Paper Doll Dress Up - and what I mean by that is to have images of people (as there are in limitation on other cartridges) that are more true to real-life. On the cartridge, there should be a variety of clothing and accessories as well. That way, crafters can add people to their projects without them necessarily looking too cutesy.
Finally, I'm so excited to "meet" you! Thanks for creating Campin' Critters. I really enjoy the cartridge and am delighted to own it! I so enjoy visiting blogs and offering people positive feedback on their creations but have never had the opportunity to do so for a designer of a cartridge. Keep up the great work!!

More licensed cartridges. I guess a twilight cartridge would be too perfect! Maybe looney tunes? I would love to see the characters I grew up with like bugs bunny and foghorn leghorn and yo sammity Sam!
I know you have 9 months cartridge (which I have and love), but maybe an imagine cartridge that more of the maternity journey. For example a mother holding a newborn or rubbing her belly (please include ethnic dolls!) or sitting in a rocking chair or standing on a scale (with a huge belly). Have an image of a baby sleeping in utero (if that's possible). Things of that nature!
